Budapest – At a ceremony in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Bosch Group, a leading global supplier of technology and services, has announced further developments at its automotive electronics plant in Hatvan. A 9.6 billion forint investment will bring new, more advanced manufacturing equipment to the Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft., expanding production capacity and contributing to improved vehicle safety, energy-efficiency and connectivity with new-generation products. Present at the announcement of the project were Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Daniel Korioth, Representative of the Bosch Group in Hungary, and Wolfgang Stein, Commercial Plant Manager of Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft. The investment will run until the end of 2020, with partial funding by a state grant of approximately 1.2 billion forints awarded by individual government decision (EKD).
The Bosch plant in Hatvan produces future-shaping automotive technology and components that will be essential for automated driving. These include electric controllers and sensors for steering and radar systems. Daniel Korioth, Representative of the Bosch Group in Hungary, said of the investment, “Bosch is constantly striving to bring the mobility of the future closer through its innovative developments and expertise. This investment is a contribution that is being made here in Hungary, in the Hatvan plant, to turn this vision into reality.”

These additional investments mainly serve to launch the manufacturing of new-generation products that are of central significance for fully-electric and hybrid vehicles. A good example is a controller for the electric steering gear that is replacing hydraulic assisted steering systems in electric cars.
Over the last twenty years, a wide range of components for automotive electronics made in Hatvan have been fitted to several hundred million vehicles worldwide. Speaking of the investment Wolfgang Stein, Commercial Plant Manager of Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft, said, “This investment will mean that in addition to raising the ability to serve our customers at even higher standards, we in Hatvan will be instrumental in shaping future mobility.”

The Hatvan plant, established in 1998 has more than 5,100 associates today, engaged in shaping the mobility of the future.
