Bosch significantly increases its production capacity in Maklár

Maklár – Bosch's Maklár plant expects a surge in new products this year, especially in the hydraulic Servocom steering gear for trucks, which pre-production began in May. Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Kft., which supplies steering systems and components to more than one hundred vehicle manufacturers around the world - also for electric and automated vehicles – thanks to its ongoing investments, will significantly increase its production capacity in the coming years. The company is going to develop a new production and logistics area of seventy thousand square metres by 2024. This includes high-tech manufacturing and assembly areas, tool shops a logistic warehouse and also an integrated service and office centre to ensure its long-term competitiveness. The total value of ongoing investments until the end of 2023 will exceed HUF 52 billion. Last year, the company spent almost five percent of its sales revenue, about HUF 8.5 billion on investments, and another HUF 6.7 billion on research and development. It has hired over 200 new employees for its production and supporting areas in the last 12 months.

The steering gears of the future are manufactured in Maklár
The steering gears and components manufactured in Maklár are already an essential safety-relevant part of millions of vehicles worldwide, and the plant is specifically focusing on future-oriented technologies. With the transformation of the automotive industry, there is a growing demand for electric steering systems, which are a key component of electric and automated vehicles. Research and development also play a special role in Maklár, which, like manufacturing, is supported by state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 solutions. Automated vehicles are used to transport raw materials, and Big Data and virtual reality technologies are applied in the field of analysis and design. Technological developments also serve environmental protection, thanks to which the company reduced the emission of liquid hazardous waste by 90 percent last year.

Car manufacturers have also recognized the performance of the Maklár plant
The success of the work in Maklár is also shown by the fact that, based on the votes of the car manufacturers and factories, Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Kft. won the Supplier of the Year 2022 award. The honourable title can be awarded to companies vested in the automotive industry, producing, developing or providing services in Hungary, which have made major investments, headcount expansion and development in Hungary.
