Budapest – Bosch has signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Óbuda University. The primary objective of the cooperation is to improve education and to support the supply of specialists in order to make sure that engineers graduating from the university have the latest industry knowledge. The agreement also covers joint research and development activities in the field of technologies that shape the future.
“Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are among the core values of the Bosch Group. We believe that with university partnerships, we both contribute to technological advancement and to the training of a second line of specialists. After all, neither can exist without the other,” said Dr. István Szászi, head of the Bosch Group in Hungary and the Adriatic region.
Wide-ranging university cooperation with Óbuda University
Bosch places great emphasis on research and development, focusing primarily on future-forming solutions such as green mobility, artificial intelligence and cyber security. In connection with this endeavour, in the autumn semester, at the initiative of Bosch, a new optional course entitled ’Software Validation in the Automotive Industry’ was launched at Óbuda University, and a software development project was started in cooperation with John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics. The project supports the so-called fuzzing test system, already used at Bosch, and allows for a more efficient testing of status-dependent protocols. Experts and engineers from Bosch participate in the development of the curriculum at Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering, making suggestions to further adapt it to the current industrial needs.
Bosch has created a multifunctional space and a study room at Kandó Kálmán College to host professional lectures and to function as a community space contributing to peer work. The study room may serve as a place for community work for a small number of participants, but it can also be used by students as a workshop room. Plans include the implementation of a program series where students are introduced, among others, to the mysteries of the various engineering fields at Bosch Group by the colleagues of the Budapest Development Center.
The aim is to establish an ecosystem for research and development
The Bosch Group in Hungary considers Hungarian universities as an important partner in the field of engineering education and research and development. Robert Bosch Kft has recently established close, strategic-level cooperation with several universities in Budapest. Bosch intends to take the cooperation of the industrial and academic sectors to an even higher level by building a comprehensive research and development ecosystem with the involvement of other universities at national level. Óbuda University is a member of this initiative.
In Bosch's research and development ecosystem, Hungarian universities can get first-hand information on industrial trends, and through the cooperations the academic sector can support the development of technology in Hungary even more effectively.
