Budapest/Miskolc – Bosch, the global supplier of technology and services is building a new manufacturing building at its Power Tools plant in Miskolc, Hungary. This was announced by László Fükő, General Manager of Robert Bosch Power Tool Elektromos Szerszámgyártó Kft., at a press conference held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó. By relocating activities to a new manufacturing building at the Miskolc Power Tools site, the company will improve the manufacturing layout to reduce complexity and costs. In addition, this realignment enables further growth. To achieve this, Bosch Power Tools will invest approximately 13.9 billion forints in the Miskolc site. The government of Hungary has contributed to the project through a dedicated technology-intensive grant of nearly 3.4 billion forints. Fükő said, “Bosch’s values, expertise, dedication and commitment to quality are all represented in the site, and our results – just like the investment we have announced – confirm that we can confidently build the future on these values.”
For the operations the new 20,000 square-meter hall will provide workspace for 1,200 associates who will move there from a rented building. The new facility will house the manufacturing of cordless power tools for do-it-yourselfers and garden enthusiasts – such as drills, saws, multifunction tools, chainsaws, and hedge cutters as well as batteries for professional and do-it-yourself users. Additionally, the new building will create space for administration offices, a canteen, labs and besides this, 100 new parking spaces will be created. The construction for the new building has already started, completion is scheduled for the end of 2019.
European competence center in Miskolc
The Power Tools plant in Miskolc has become the Bosch Group's European battery pack production competence center, thanks to technological infrastructure that is outstanding by international Bosch standards, the special expertise and high production volumes. The plant produces batteries not only for electronic power tools, but for e-bikes as well. E-mobility developments are an area of priority for Bosch’s future-shaping ambitions, and the European battery pack production competence center of Bosch Power Tools division will strengthen Miskolc’s position there. The General manager of the Power Tools plant in Miskolc added, “such competence centers are found only at sites of global strategic significance, and they result in long-term sustainability and international competitiveness. It makes me proud that Miskolc is contributing to this.”
