Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Lighter and quieter drives, fully networked colour displays, slimmer batteries – these are just some of the numerous product innovations that Bosch eBike Systems has presented for eBikes with the smart system. "The smart system represents the digital future of eBiking. With it, the physical and digital eBike experiences merge. In order to inspire eBikers again and again, we are continuously expanding the modular smart system with new hardware and digital features”, explains Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems.
eBike ABS: up to 29 percent of accidents could be mitigated or prevented
Introduced last year, the Bosch eBike ABS makes braking safer on any surface, significantly reducing the risk of falling or being thrown over the handlebars. If all eBikes were equipped with ABS, up to 29 percent of all accidents involving eBikes could be mitigated or completely prevented each year – as proven in studies conducted by Bosch Accident Research.
Bosch eBike Systems has announced that it is collaborating with the Taiwanese brake specialist Tektro – well-known also in Hungary – in manufacturing eBike ABS systems. Alongside Magura, Tektro is another renowned brake manufacturer that Bosch is working together with. "We are firmly convinced that eBike ABS will become established on all eBike types in the long term and will become standard on high-quality eBikes“, said Claus Fleischer.
Maximum support in minimum space: Bosch launched its new compact drive system
With the Performance Line SX, Bosch eBike Systems is setting new standards for sporty riding with lightweight eMTBs, eGravel bikes, and eUrban bikes. The new drive unit combines high performance with low weight – making it the Bosch drive with the highest power density. These features and the finely tuned support ensure a natural riding sensation and enable sporty eBiking on the trail and intensive training rounds on gravel, as well as fast rides through the city. The new compact drive delivers a maximum torque of 55 Newton metres and a power-to-weight ratio of up to 300 watts per kilogram. The peak power of up to 600W that can be generated at high cadence supports eBikers on steep uphill sections. On flatter terrain or in downhill sections, the drive unit provides the necessary agility and excels by virtue of its extremely efficient and energy-saving handling. The weight of the entire system, in conjunction with the battery, is around four kilograms.
With the innovative, very low-noise motor and gearbox concept, and the barely noticeable pedal resistance, eBikes equipped with the new system are particularly smooth and easy to ride even above 25 km/h.
Hidden battery integrated into the frame down tube
The necessary energy is provided by the new CompactTube 400 battery that can be integrated into the frame down tube. This is the lightest battery in the Bosch eBike portfolio, also features the highest energy density thanks to innovative cell technology. It has a capacity of 400 watt-hours – more than sufficient for sporty riders.
New eBike charger that fits anywhere
A new compact charger is the 2A Charger. Around 25 percent lighter and 40 percent smaller than the 4A Charger. It can be comfortably carried and easily stowed away on lengthy rides well as on the way to work.
eShift: simple and comfortable gear shifting for hub gear systems
Riding comfort is also enhanced by the electric eShift gear shifting solution, which will also be available for eBikes with the smart system and hub gear systems. It makes changing gears easier and more comfortable: eBikers can simply pedal and select the desired gear. The smart system ensures optimal gear shifting at all times.
