The 350 millionth product rolled off the production line at the Bosch automotive plant in Miskolc, where components ranging from electric motors to stability control and eBike drives are manufactured for conventional, hybrid and electric cars and bicycles. The plant, which started operations 20 years ago, is one of the largest employers in the north-eastern Hungarian region with 2,700 employees, and provides jobs and livelihoods for nearly 100 other local businesses through its supply chain.
“Over the last 20 years we have grown gradually to become one of the most influential companies in the region. This is only possible with a dedicated, expert team. I would like to express my thanks to all the associates and partners of the automotive Bosch company in Miskolc,” said Roland Ahl, plant manager of Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems Kft. “In addition, we have continuously expanded our production and are involved in the development of components to ensure that we always provide our automotive partners with the latest technologies. In Miskolc, we are shaping the future,” added the plant manager.
The company has developed an effective partnership with the city of Miskolc from the very beginning. In addition to developing infrastructure, the automotive arm of Bosch in Miskolc, as a responsible multinational company, aims to work closely with local communities to make the city an even better place to live and work for its inhabitants. In addition to employment, the company also cooperates with the municipality and local institutions in the fields of education, training and social services. It has been involved in dual education for more than ten years, providing practical training for young secondary school students in cooperation with three vocational schools in Miskolc. It is a strategic partner of the University of Miskolc, actively involved in joint research and development projects, as well as in higher dual education, running an apprenticeship program and regularly giving expert lectures. Bosch also supports a daycare, a kindergarten and a primary school, and through their social responsibility program, they support the city with health and cultural projects.
Essential components in vehicles
Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems Kft. supplies automotive components manufactured in Miskolc to major automotive companies worldwide. Electric motors, starters, circulation pumps, cooling fans, alternators, wiper motors and air conditioning systems have made up the factory's portfolio over the past two decades. Its new generation products, such as the brake booster motor and the stability control, are essential components for hybrid and electric vehicles. They also carry out research and development and testing to ensure that their products meet the needs of the future, not just the present.
The whole world is supplied by eBikes drives from Miskolc
In addition to automotive components, an important product of the plant is the eBike drive, that uses an intelligent power assistance system. Not only is the drive unit made in Miskolc, but the entire eBike system – including the drive unit, display, battery, cables and all the equipment needed for the electric drive – is packaged here and shipped to destinations around the world.
